Student-Athletes of the Week (February 3rd- 9th): Jamie Cowan and Jacob Curry

Male Athlete of the Week

Senior (RS) guard Jacob Curry helped lead Alice Lloyd to a pair of conference wins this week.

He exploded against the (at the time) division-leading Indiana East Red Wolves to propel the Eagles to a 117-84 victory. In that matchup, he led all scorers by pouring in 33 points. He was absolutely on fire from long range as he sank an amazing 10-14 for 71.4%. He also was fouled on one trifecta and sank all 3 of his free throws. Additionally, he added 2 rebounds and 5 assists to the cause. His total made (10) was one behind the school record of 11 threes by an individual in a single game. He did help ALC tie the school record for made threes* in a single game as they drained 27 threes (in just 39 attempts for a staggering 69.2% team accuracy)

He followed that up by helping the club defeat Indiana Southeast 83-82 in OT. In that game, he was guarded intensely, but still scored 9 points and hit 4-4 free throws. He also sank an important jumper late down the stretch that helped the squad overcome a late 10-point deficit to win in overtime. He added 2 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block.

For the week, he averaged 21 points, shot 54.5% from the field, 57.9% from beyond the arc, and 100% from the charity line, while handing off 3.5 assists.

ALC is tied for second in the division with a record of 17-6; RSC is 8- 4.

*The 27 threes is still the NAIA DII record when there were two divisions.
