Student-Athletes of the Week (March 17th- March 23rd, 2025) Maleigh McDaniel and Cory Jefferson

Female Athlete of the Week 

We award the Female Athlete of the Week to softball player Maleigh McDaniel.

McDaniel was dominant on the mound and solid with the bat in two victories for the Lady Eagles over NCAA DIII foe Berea College. First, in the opening game, 8-0 shutout victory, the veteran pitched, and tossed a no-hitter. She stuck out 6 and walked 0 batters in a dominant, complete-game performance. She only faced 16 batters on the day as the only runner to reach base did so on an error. At the plate, she went 1-3 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored. She also stole 1 base.

Then, in the second game, a 9-1 victory, she played shortstop and went 1-2 at the plate with 1 RBI and 1 run scored. She also stole 3 bases and drew 1 walk.

Over the two-game series, she batted .400 (2-5) with 2 RBIs, 4 runs scored, 4 stolen bases, and 1 walk and pitched a no-hitter.

The Lady Eagles record now sits at 12-10. 

Male Athlete of the Week

We award the Male Athlete of the Week to baseball player, Cory Jefferson.

 Jefferson was impressive at the plate in the Eagles big victory over Kentucky Christian University. In the 11-2 win, the third baseman finished 3-4 at the plate, with 1 homerun, 2 doubles, and 5 RBIs. He also scored 3 runs.

The Eagles record now sits at 13-5.
