Final Student Athlete of the Week for 2024-25: (May 5th-11th, 2025) Maleigh McDaniel and Diego Rodriguez

Female Student Athlete of the Week 

Maleigh McDaniel

We award the final Female Student Athlete of the Week for 2024-25 to softball player Maleigh McDaniel.

McDaniel was impressive on the mound, leading the Lady Eagles to a pair of huge victories over Kentucky Christian University. These propelled her club to the finals of the NCCAA Mideast Regional Tournament, where they dropped a pair of heartbreaking 1-0 defeats to eventual champion Oakland City University.

In her squads opening game 6-5 win, the veteran pitcher allowed 8 hits, 5 runs, struck out 2, and only walked 3. She followed that up in game two by coming in to relieve in the first inning, with her squad trailing 4-0. She promptly delivered a 4-hit shutout with 0 runs, 0 walks and 3 strikeouts, to lead the Lady Eagles to a 7-4 come-back victory.

She also delivered at the plate by batting .272 (3-11) with a double, 1 RBI, and 3 stolen bases.

The Lady Eagles finished the season by setting a school-record with 28 victories.

Male Student Athlete of the Week

We award the final Male Student Athlete of the Week for 2024-25 to baseball player Diego Rodriguez.

 Rodriguez was steady at the plate for the Eagles, helping them reach the finals of the NCCAA Mideast Regional Tournament, as they went 1-2 on the week.

In a split with Ohio Christian University and defeat by eventual champion Campbellsville University, the shortstop batted .545 (6-11) while scoring 4 runs, knocking 1 double,  swiping 5 bases, and driving in 2 runs.

The Eagles finished the season by tying a school-record with 27 victories.
