ALC Archery Competes in First Indoor Tournament of the 24-25 Season

On Saturday, September 22nd, Alice Lloyd College's Archery Team competed in the Out of the Heat indoor archery tournament in Madison, North Carolina. The tournament consisted of two rounds of ten ends at eighteen meters. The team began dialing in during practice rounds at noon, and most of their nerves had settled when competition began at 1pm.

ALC archers represented the college well, setting five personal records and five ALC records on the day. Of the five participants, each ALC archer placed in the top five. After experiencing an equipment malfunction across the first five ends, first-year archer Brady Hall-Montgomery regained his composure and finished the remaining ends strong. He earned himself a fifth-place finish in the Compound Senior Men's division while setting his personal best.

In the Fixed Pins U21 Junior Men division, second-year archer Mitchell Ohnewehr also overcame equipment troubles in the opening ends of the tournament. After some quick adjustments, Ohnewehr caught up to the rest of the competitors and finished in first place! Ohnewehr also set his personal best and an ALC record for the division.

ALC barebow archers dominated the competition, setting three school records and three personal bests. ALC senior and second-year archer McKenna Wireman led the way for the barebow archers. In her division, Barebow Senior Women, she scored a first-place finish. Allison Boggs, also a second-year archer, scored another first-place finish and ALC record in the Barebow U21 Junior Women division. Archer Chandlar Ramey added a second-place finish to the team's achievements. His finish in the Barebow Senior Men division was also an ALC school record and his personal best.

ALC Head Coach Ty Reagan is proud of the team's accomplishments. "This team has worked hard to start the season strong, and I am very pleased with our results today. We've got a great start to the year and some fantastic numbers to build off of. We did a lot of great things out there today, but there's always more to work on. I'm excited to get back to practice to keep improving. I expect us to break the records we set today and keep pushing higher.

ALC archery will return to North Carolina on November 17th for another indoor archery tournament at 18 meters. Click here to support ALC Archery.
