The Eagles never trailed as they pulled out the nice road win.
ALC broke the ice in the second when Nick Van Keuren (LF) singled to left to drive in a run (1-0).
Bluefield struck back in the bottom half with a solo blast to tie the score (1-1). However, the Caney Creek club earned that back in the third. In that inning, Cannon Ferrell (CF) singled up the middle to put his buddies back in the lead (2-1).
In inning four, the Rams tied things once again with a single (2-2), and in the fifth, each club would score once more.
Alice Lloyd scored their run when Caleb Horton (2B) laced a single to left for a score (3-2), but the Kentucky boys gave that run right back in the bottom of the inning as a costly error permitted a BC runner to scamper home (3-3). However, after two scoreless innings, the momentum would drastically change.
In the Eagle eighth, a single from Van Keuren, combined with big doubles from Noah Dingess (1B) and TJay Mullins (LF), led to a windfall of 5 runs. Suddenly, the Pippa Passes posse led 8-3.
The Virginia club singled in a run in their half of the eighth (8-4) and then looked to make up more ground in the ninth with a solo home run (8-5). Fortunately, the contest would end soon after as the Eagles slammed the door on the big victory.
The visitors registered 14 crucial hits on the day, with Van Keuren, Ferrell, Dingess, Mullins, Corey Jefferson (SS), Dawson Beckett (DH), and Caleb Horton (2B) all registering 2 hits.
Two Mullins doubles, which brought in 2 RBIs, paved the way. Dingess added a double of his own.
On the mound, Ryan Cozart went the distance to take the win. He went 9 innings, allowing 10 hits and 4 earned runs, with 6 strikeouts.
The victors produced 14 hits compared to BC's 10, and were able to overcome 3 errors.
