Alice Lloyd Baseball Victorious at Berea College, 15-7

Berea, KY: The Alice Lloyd College Eagles baseball team (13-29) traveled to Central Kentucky on April 19th, to play the NCAA DIII Berea College Mountaineers (8-25) in a single-game contest. The visitors punished the ball all day and took a big 15-7 victory.

Berea actually struck first in the opening inning when they scored a run with a long fly ball (1-0). However, the Eagles would quickly respond.

In the second, ALC utilized four hits, including doubles from TJay Mullins (LF), and Dalton Rouse (DH), to lead to a windfall of seven huge runs. Just like that, the Caney Creek club led 7-1.

In the very next inning, Isaiah Beckett (2B) joined the double parade as his hit brought in another teammate (8-1).

Berea made up a run in their half of the third with a single (8-2), only to see ALC gain a two-spot in the fourth.

In that inning, Rouse and Dawson Beckett (3B) both added to the double tally, which plated two more scores (10-2).

The Mountaineers then looked to mount a comeback as they used a few crucial hits in the fourth to earn three runs (10-5), then followed that up with a two-run double in the fifth to inch even closer (10-7). The Eagle fan began to get nervous

Fortunately, the Pippa Passes posse would re-seize momentum in the sixth. It started when Mullins unloaded on a fastball to left for a long homerun (11-7), then ended on a fielder's choice, which quickly led to another score (12-7).

Any hopes of a Berea comeback were dashed in the eighth when after two Eagles reached base,

Cannon Ferrell (CF) tripled to bring them both in (14-7). I. Beckett quickly singled him home (15-7) to end the day.

For the Pippa Passes crew, which unleashed 16 big hits, Mullins, Rouse, and I. Beckett all had 3 hits, while Mullins knocked in 4 RBIs. Ferrell added 2 triples. On the day, the club recorded 9 extra-base hits, with two triples and seven doubles.

Jason Frye started on the mound, going 3 innings. He gave up 3 hits and 2 earned runs, with 3 strikeouts. Caleb Justice came on in relief and went 0.2 innings, giving up 3 hits and 3 earned runs. He was then relieved by Will Gladson, who took the win. He allowed 3 hits and 2 earned runs. He also struck out 7 over 5 innings of work.

BC recorded 9 hits on the day and committed the only error of the game.
