
Alice Lloyd Baseball Eagles Take Conference Series Over Brescia University
Owensboro, KY: The Alice Lloyd College Eagles baseball team traveled to Owensboro to face the Brescia University Bearcats on April 23rd-24th.The trip proved to be fruitful, as the Eagles played well to take two of three in the series. ALC's record now moves to 15-30 (3-21 RSC), while the Owensboro crew now sits at 10-32-1 (5-19 RSC)

Game 1
Alice Lloyd-2; BU-1
In the opening contest, the Eagles came through in the clutch to take the game in a pitching duel.
For the first four- and one-half innings, neither squad could break through, as both pitchers stifled the opposition. Finally, in the bottom of the fifth, Brescia struck.
In that inning, with a Bearcat runner on third, ALC committed a balk. This allowed the opening run to score (1-0).
In the sixth, the Pippa Passes club would answer. Ryan Cozart (3B) would smack a double. He was then followed by TJay Mullins (LF), who promptly repeated the feat to tie the contest, 1-1.
Then in the final inning, Cannon Ferrell (CF) would single. He was followed by Cory Jefferson (SS), who lined a single to left to bring the runner in. Now, ALC led 2-1.
BU had opportunities, but the Eagles refused to wilt, and they chalked up the "W" in the victory column.
The Caney Creek boys registered 8 hits on the day, with Mullins going 3-4 with two doubles. They also committed 2 errors.
On the mound, Dawson Beckett was solid, as he went the distance to take the win. In 9 innings, he allowed just 3 hits and 1 run, with 7 strikeouts. OCU had 3 hits and 1 error on the day.
Game 2
Alice Lloyd-13; BU-6
In this contest, Alice Lloyd wielded the big bats, to come up with a commanding victory.
The visitors struck quickly from the start, using a couple of singles from Isaiah Beckett (2B) and Dalton Rouse (DH), plus a wild pitch, to plate a three-spot (3-0).
One inning later, a gift run was handed to ALC, courtesy of a Bearcat error. The Eastern Kentucky men now led 4-0.
In the third, Brescia received their first score on a fielder's choice (4-1), but they gave the run right back to Alice Lloyd in the very next inning on a throwing error (5-1).
The visitors would return the favor as they aided Brescia in the bottom of the fourth by committing an error, which led to a couple of runs (5-3) However, the visitors would make amends in the fifth.
In that inning, a couple of singles and two Bearcat errors led to six big ALC runs. Suddenly, after the dust settled, the Pippa Passes posse had a huge 11-3 lead.
BU scored a couple of runs in the bottom of the fifth (11-5), but the Eagles gained both runs back in the sixth, fueled by a Mullins single (13-5).
BU gained one more score in the bottom half of the inning (13-6), but Alice Lloyd slammed the door shut in the seventh to take the contest.
The visitors registered 15 hits for the game with I. Beckett went 4-5 and Cozart finished 3-4. Mullins delivered 3 RBIs.
On the mound, Peyton Branham took the win. In 7 innings, he allowed 7 hits and 5 earned runs. He added 6 strikeouts.
The victors produced 15 hits compared to the Bearcats' 7, while ALC committed 3 errors, compared to BU's 3.

Game 3
Alice Lloyd-6; BU-7
The final game was entertaining, but, aided by sloppy play from the Eagles, the hosts scored five times in the final two innings for the comeback win.
ALC struck quickly in the first when Mullins doubled to produce a run (1-0). BU would knot the score in the same inning when an error by the visitors tied the contest at 1-1.
BU took their first lead of the entire series in the second inning, when they utilized a double to leap ahead, 2-1.
Fortunately, the third was a nice inning for the Caney Creek crew. After two men reached base, a Cole Bishop (C) single delivered the goods to place the Caney Creek crew on top, 3-2.
In the fifth, a Bearcat error gave the Eagles a gift run (4-2), and they would add to that in the sixth.
In that inning, a single, courtesy of I. Beckett and a wild pitch led to two more scores. Now, the Pippa Passes squadron led 6-2 and appeared poised for the sweep. Unfortunately, no one informed the Bearcats that they were beaten.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Brescia would make up two scores by virtue of a single and an error. However, they still trailed, 6-4.
Then, after the blue and white went down in the ninth, the momentum continued its swing.
The Owensboro squad grabbed a run as the result of an error to cut into the lead even more (6-5). They would then knot the score in the same inning with a double (6-6). Unfortunately, they then completed the comeback when the next batter coolly lined another double to hand his squad the miraculous victory
Both clubs registered 11 hits on the day as hits for the game as Mullins and Jefferson both finished 3-5. I. Beckett, Mullins, and Bishop all contributed 1 RBI.
On the mound, Cozart suffered the disappointing loss as he allowed just 6 hits and 2 runs, with only 1 earned run. Chase Conley came on in relief. In 1.2 innings, he allowed 5 hits and 5 runs, with 1 earned. The duo combined to whiff 8 Bearcat batters.
Both squads collected 11 hits, but the difference in the game was errors. ALC committed 7 huge mistakes, which proved impossible to overcome.
