Alice Lloyd Baseball Eagles Play Host to Pikeville

Pippa Passes: On February 14th the Alice Lloyd College Eagles baseball team returned home for the first time in 2024 to host the Pikeville Bears in a single contest. The hosts had a tough time on the day, and dropped a 12-0 seven-inning decision.

In the first inning, UPike would load the bases with two walks and a hit batsman. A double and sacrifice fly helped lead to a 3-0 lead. Two innings later, UP plated three more scores, sparked by a homerun (6-0).

In the fifth, a walk and double led to a couple more runs for the visitors. Finally, in the sixth, a triple was the key blow that led to four more scores. The Pike County squad now led 12-0.

In the meantime, the Eagles had trouble at the plate all game long. Diego Rodriguez (SS) and TJay Mullins (LF) each had a single, but both were left stranded on base as the home squad was shutout on the day.

On the mound Trenton Williams gave up 8 hits and 6 runs in his 2.2 innings of work. Tyler Brammer relieved and gave up 4 runs on 2 hits.

In addition, JT Griswold and Carson Tate each delivered one-inning of relief work. Both allowed just 1 hit, with Griswold allowing 2 runs.

Tate whiffed 2 batters while his teammates each struck out 1 batter. The quartet combined for 6 walks.

The victors (5-1) won the hitting battle 12-2 and both committed 1 error.

Alice Lloyd (3-3) returns to action on February 16th when they host the Wright State Lake Lakers in a tripleheader. Game times are scheduled for 11:00 am, 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm.
