ALC Eagles Baseball earns two over Maranatha Baptist University
Pippa Passes, KY: The Alice Lloyd College Eagles baseball team returned home on Wednesday, March 20th, for a doubleheader with Maranatha Baptist University. The hosts would perform well to earn the sweep over their counterparts from Wisconsin. This sets their record at 15-16, while the Sabercats fall to 0-13.
Game 1

The Bluegrass boys scored all of their runs over three innings to take game one.
In their very first at-bat, ALC stuck, utilizing a homerun from Ryan Cozart (2B) plus a grounder to score a pair of runs (2-0).
In the bottom of the third, the hosts would use a single from Cozart, a double from Anthony Bailey (CF), two walks, and an error from the Sabercats to gain a six-spot. The Pippa Passes posse now led 8-0.
Maranatha would use a ground ball to dent the scoreboard in the fourth and trail 8-1, but the Eagles would answer in the next inning.
In the fifth. Alice Lloyd would produce four more runs, with the hit producer coming courtesy of a TJay Mullins (LF) single (12-1).
The Sabercats would then go down in their last two at-bats to hand the victory to the home squad.
The victors smacked 8 hits, highlighted by 2 each from Cozart and Challen Massengill (RF). Cozart provided 3 RBIs, while Eric Williams (1B) and Bailey each contributed 2.
On the mound, Lucas Combs went the distance, tossing a 5-hitter. He allowed 1 run, whiffed 3 batters, and only administered 2 walks in a solid performance.
The Eagles stole 7 bases, and Maranatha committed the only 2 errors on the day.
Game 2

In this contest, the Eagles jumped out quickly, scoring early and often, to earn the sweep.
In the first, the visitors actually grabbed the lead, using a double to plate the first score (1-0).
That lead quickly evaporated in the bottom half of the inning as ALC used a double from Carson Tate (SS), plus a single from Tyler Brammer (2B), to pull ahead, 4-1.
In their very next at bat, they would better that total. Kyle Johnson (CF) started the ball rolling with a two-run blast (6-1). That was followed by singles from Isaiah Kelly (DH) and Conner Mahoney (C) which produced a trio of runs. Now, the hosts led 9-1.
The Pippa Passes posse would produce two runs in the third on a pair of sacrifice flies to extend the advantage to 11-1. They would then blow the contest open in the fourth.
. In the big inning, the runs were delivered on the strength of singles from Kelly, Mahoney, Jacob Ayers (1B), Drake Turner (3B), and Chase Conley (2B). This pushed the total to 19-1.
The Eagles would add one more score in the fifth on a fielder's choice to give them 20 runs. The scoring would end in the sixth when Maranatha put a runner on third base and drove him home on a long fly ball (20-2). The game would then end one inning later.
The Eagles registered 18 hits for the game, with Kelly going 4-5 and Mahoney and Brammer both achieving 3 hits. Kelly and Brammer both drove in 3 runs
The victors won in hits (18-5), and also played error-free ball compared to 3 by the Sabercats.
