Alice Lloyd Baseball concludes regular season with impressive road victory over Kentucky Christian University, 16-7

Grayson, KY: On April 23rd, the Alice Lloyd College Eagles baseball team journeyed to Grayson to face the home-standing Kentucky Christian University Knights in a single game showdown. The Pippa Passes posse would bring the big-lumber with them, and use it to take the impressive 16-7 win. ALC's record now stands at 17-31, while KCU moves to 17-29.

The visitors struck in the first. Fueled by a double from left fielder TJay Mullins they would pull ahead 2-0.

The Knights sliced the deficit in half in their first at-bat, as a wild pitch brought in the runner from third (2-1).

In the third, an error and wild pitch gave the Eagles a gift runner to move ahead, 3-1. However, the hosts would race back in the bottom of the inning utilizing a double to gain three runs. Suddenly, the Grayson crew led 4-3.

Fortunately, ALC would quickly answer. In the very next inning, Cory Jefferson (2B) would lace a homerun to right field to knot the score at 4-4. Then, Mullins would slam a fast ball over the center field wall to lift his mates back on top, 5-4.

In the Alice Lloyd fifth Wyatt Hobgood (PH) would single in another score for the visitors (6-4), before they delivered big in the sixth with a four-spot. The runs, contributed by a Carson Tate triple, an error and sacrifice fly, made the score 10-4. However, they were not finished yet.

In the eighth, ALC would add a pair of runs when Cole Bishop (C) blasted the ball over the left field fence (12-4). Finally, in the ninth, they would lace a pair of singles and double to run their tally to 16.

Down to their last opportunity, KCU would knock a homerun of their own to shrink the deficit to 16-7. But it was too little or too late.

Fortunately, with two outs, The Caney Creek crew would strikeout the final batter to end the day.

On the day, both clubs recorded 11 hits, with Mullins, Jefferson, Tate and Kyle Johnson (CF) each bagging 2 apiece for the Knott County boys. Bishop had the unusual distinction of driving in 7 runs on just 1 hit.

On the mound, Cain Flynn pitched three innings, allowing 3 hits and 4 runs with 3 K's while Jacob Ayers threw the final six innings and took the win. He permitted 8 hits and 3 runs with a pair of strikeouts.

The victors belted three homeruns and added a triple and trio of doubles. In addition, they were aided greatly by 7 huge Knight errors.
