Alice Lloyd Esports Claims 3rd in ECAC Fortnite Grand Finals
Alice Lloyd College esports continued its rise in the collegiate Fortnite scene this spring, earning a podium finish in the ECAC Duos No Builds Grand Finals under the leadership of Coach Alex Hall. Representing ALC were Dylan "Dylzilla10" Moore and Austin "rapidhuff11" Moore, whose impressive teamwork and strategy throughout the season solidified their place in the Grand Finals out of the 123-team pool.
Entering the Grand Finals, the Moore Brothers were seen as one of the stronger duos in the country. In Game 1, they took an early lead by finishing in 1st place with six eliminations, racking up valuable points right out of the gate. Game 2 brought a solid 8th-place finish with three eliminations, followed by a 3rd-place finish with four eliminations in Game 3, continuing their steady momentum. Despite a setback in Game 4, where they placed 19th with no eliminations, the team rebounded in Game 5 with a 5th-place finish and five eliminations, closing out the finals on a high note.
After Game 4, the duo sat in 6th place overall, facing a steep climb to reach the podium. However, their resilience and focus in the final match propelled them up the leaderboard, ultimately securing a 3rd-place finish in the nation with a total of 283 points. The comeback highlighted the team's ability to adapt under pressure and deliver when it mattered most.
"I couldn't be more proud of how they handled the adversity," said Coach Hall. "Lesser teams might have folded after Game 4, but they came out and played like it never happened. Great determination from two great competitors."
