Eagles Fall in Road Basketball Opener
Louisville, KY: The Alice Lloyd College Eagles gave an impressive defensive effort, but were doomed by cold shooting, and fell to the Boyce Bulldogs in a low-scoring affair, 53-51. The matchup took place on November 3rd.
In the opening half, things started well for the visitors as they pulled out to a 17-7 lead sparked by several buckets from guard Jared Strickland. However, they went cold from there, and permitted the Bulldogs to chip away at the deficit. Despite this, ALC led 31-29 at intermission.
In the second half, ALC would get some nice buckets from forward Damon Tobler and pull slightly ahead, only to see a lid appear on the hoop once again. This time, Boyce would come all the way back. When they sank 2 late free throws, they would lead 53-51 with .20 remaining.
On their final possession, ALC would get a nice midrange jumper at .05 from Noah Caudill that just bounded off. The visitors would get the rebound back and get a three-point attempt from guard Bryce Slone at the buzzer, but the contested shot rimmed off as time expired.
For the Eagles (0-2), they had two players reach double figures as Tobler and Strickland both scored 15 points. However, no other player scored more than 6.
Tobler and Slone led in rebounds with 8 and 7 while guard Brady Nelson had 4 assists. Strickland had 2 steals.
Alice Lloyd shot just 35.1% (20-57) from the floor, and 31.3% (5-16) from behind the arc. They finished 66.7%% (6-9) from the foul line. They also had 42 rebounds, 12 assists, and 6 steals.
BC (1-0) was led by Zach Wolfe with 12 points. Alice Lloyd plays their next game on Monday, November 9th when they travel to Campbellsville-Harrodsburg for a 7:00 pm tipoff.
