Alice Lloyd Eagles Earn Fourth Straight Win, Defeat Campbellsville University Harrodsburg

Pippa Passes, KY: The Alice Lloyd College Eagles returned to the Perry Campus Center on December 6th for a nonconference matchup against the Campbellsville University Harrodsburg Pioneers. In a game the hosts led for almost thirty-nine minutes, ALC would pull out a 74-70 victory.

The Eagles scored the first four points to open the game, but then the club went cold, which permitted the Pioneers to keep the game close. With the score reading 10-9 at the 10:14 mark, Alice Lloyd got a boost from the bench. Junior guard Jared Strickland would score 5 points to spark a 7-1 burst and give his club a 17-10 advantage.

However, CUH would answer with an 11-3 run of their own and take their first lead (21-20) at the 6:02 mark. The Pippa Passes men would respond with an 8-0 sprint, sparked by 5 points from senior guard Bryce Slone, and leap ahead 28-21. Unfortunately, they would witness the visitors reel off an 8-0 burst of their own to put them ahead 29-28 at intermission.

In the second half, ALC would see senior big men Will Philpot and Colyn Sturgill go to work and score the club's first ten points to help regain the advantage (38-34) but sparked by their long-range shooting, Harrodsburg refused to go away.

Finally, the Pippa Passes club put a nice run together, sparked by seven more points from Philpot and some nice play off the bench from sophomore forward Blaine Keathley and sophomore guard Brady Nelson. They would extend their advantage to nine points on several occasions.

The visitors would drain a few late shots to stay in striking distance, but Slone would sink three free throws to keep the visitors at bay and help the Pippa Passes boys earn their fourth consecutive win.

For ALC (5-5), they were led on the night by Philpot with a big 15-point, 13-rebound double-double and Strickland with 10 points. Keathley came off the bench to garner 9 points and 5 rebounds, while Slone added 8. Junior forward Damon Tobler led with 3 assists.

ALC shot 43.7% (31-71) from the field and 20% (3-15) from behind the arc. They sank 60% (9-15) from the foul line and added 48 rebounds, 10 assists, and 6 steals.

For CUH (1-6), Chris Rawlings and Keelan Kennedy both had 17 points. Their club finished shooting 37.9% (25-65) from the floor and 48.1% (13-27) from behind the arc. They hit 46.7% (7-15) from the foul line. They also added 34 rebounds, 12 assists, and 10 steals.

ALC returns to action this week on Thursday, December 8th, when they host the Boyce Bulldogs at 6:00 pm.
