Alice Lloyd Eagles falter at Indiana University Kokomo

Kokomo, IN: On Thursday, January 18th, the Alice Lloyd Eagles braved the frigid weather and ventured to the Hoosier State to face the formidable Indiana University Kokomo Cougars in RSC play. The hosts led the entire game with red-hot shooting and won, 101-69.

In the opening stanza, the visitors scored first on a trifecta from freshman forward Jackson Tackett. Unfortunately, things would change quickly.

The host club would ride the scoring of Noah Harris and go on a big 14-0 run (14-3).  By the midway point, the lead had ballooned to twenty-one, 31-12.

The Cougars would keep the pressure on as they drained 2/3 of their attempts in the first 20 minutes. At halftime, they would lead 50-29.

In the second half, Tackett and senior guard Jared Strickland would combine for 22 points as the Pippa Passes squad tried to cut into the deficit. Unfortunately, on this night, Kokomo would remain hot. They were able to produce 51 more points, as the outcome of the game was never in doubt.

For Alice Lloyd (10-8, 2-6 RSC), they would place just two men in double figures. They were led on the night by Strickland, who sank 6-10 field goals for 17 points. He added 4 steals. Tackett connected on 7-9 field goals for 16 points and paced the club with five rebounds. In addition, Strickland and senior guard Brady Nelson each had three assists.

On the night, the Eagles shot just 38.6% (27-70) from the field, 33.3% (7-21) from beyond the arc and 72.7% (8-11) from the charity stripe. They grabbed 24 rebounds, handed off 11 assists, and stole 4 balls.

The Cougars (14-3; 4-3 RSC) were led by Harris with 18 points. His squad shot a scorching 62.9 % (39-62) from the field, 60% (12-20) from beyond the arc, and 84.6% (11-13) from the charity stripe. They snared 44 rebounds, handed off 26 assists and stole 7 balls.

The Eagles are up again on Saturday, January 20th when they travel to Saint Mary of the Woods Indiana to face the top-seeded Pomeroys in a critical RSC matchup. Tipoff is set for 3:00 pm.
