Alice Lloyd Eagles Basketball earns impressive road victory over Welch, 96-59

Gallatin, TN: On November 2nd, the Alice Lloyd Eagles continued their Tennessee road trip by journeying to Gallatin, Tennessee to battle the Welch College Flames.The Eagles combined their incredible balance with impressive defense to take the big 96-59 victory.

In the opening stanza, the Eagles led 10-5 at the 14:25 mark. From there, they would ride the hot hand of senior guard Jared Stickland to blow out to a double-digit lead. The visitors would see 8 players score in the first twenty minutes of play as Strickland produced 15 points, while three different Eagles added 7 points apiece. This would give the Pippa Passes boys a 48-34 advantage after twenty minutes of play.

In the second half, the Pippa Passes defense would clamp down tight and pick up numerous steals. On offense, they would unleash their potent fast break and drain half of their long bombs. 12 different players would dent the scorebook as the Eagles coasted to the solid 37-point victory.

 

For Alice Lloyd (2-0), they were led on the night by Strickland, who bagged 22 points on 7-10 field goals (4-6 triples) and 4-4 free throws. He was followed by junior guard Koji Anderson and senior forward Devaunte Robinson, both with 11 points. Anderson also tallied 7 big deflections on the day. Sophomore forward Naz Welch chipped in with 10 points. In addition, senior forward Ben Soumahoro contributed 9 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals while junior guard Wilgus Tolson lent 7 points and 6 assists to the cause.

On the day, the Caney Creek crew finished at 48.6% (35-72) from the field, including 41.4%  (12-29) from beyond the arc. They also hit 67% (14-21) from the charity stripe, attacked the class with 45 rebounds, handed out 23 assists and swiped an eye-popping 17 steals. They recorded 39 huge deflections.

WC (1-0) was led by Zaimes Hall with 22 points. His squad shot 31.8% (21-66) from the field, 24.1% (7-29) from beyond the arc and 62.5% (10-15) from the foul line. Additionally, they snared 46 rebounds, handed off 11 assists and stole 7 balls. They had 15 deflections
