Alice Lloyd Eagles use long-ball to earn 94-75 victory at Boyce

 

Louisville, KY: On November 26th, the Alice Lloyd Eagles journeyed to Louisville to battle the home-standing Boyce College Bulldogs. The Eagles combined the scoring of seniors Ben Soumahoro and Jared Strickland with deadly team accuracy from long distances to roll to a 94-75 victory.

In the opening stanza, the Bulldogs opened with a pair of goals to take a quick 4-0 lead. From there, the Eagles turned to Soumahoro on the interior and senior guard Jared Strickland on the perimeter to quickly turn the tables and pull out to a double-figure lead.  A Stickland bomb would make the score 41-26, as the duo would combine for 29 first-half points. The Caney Creek crew would head into intermission holding a 52-43 advantage.

In the second half, the boys from Pippa Passes continued their fine shooting, extending their lead to over 20 points. From there, the visitors were never threatened, as the entire squad contributed to the impressive victory.

 For Alice Lloyd (6-1), they were led on the night by Soumahoro, who achieved a big double-double with 29 points and 10 rebounds. He finished 10-11 from the field, 1-1 from deep, and 8-9 from the charity stripe. The forward also added 3 assists and a pair of steals to his ledger. Strickland swished 4-6 from behind the arc to finish with 17 points. The guard added 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block.

In addition, senior forward Devante Robinson contributed 9 points and 4 rebounds, while classmate Jacob Curry added 8 points. Junior guard Wilgus Tolson led the way with 4 assists and senior guard Brady Nelson registered 2 blocks.

 On the day, the Caney Creek crew finished at 51.6% (31-60) from the field, including an outstanding 50% (13-26) from beyond the arc. They also drilled 79.1% (19-24) from the charity stripe, nabbed 34 rebounds, handed out 20 assists, and swiped 6 steals.

BC (1-4) was led by Tyler Nauert with 17 points. His squad shot 44.6% (29-65) from the field, 27.2% (6-22) from beyond the arc and 78.5% (11-14) from the foul line. Additionally, they snared 36 rebounds, handed off 16 assists, and stole 5 balls.

The Eagles now return to action after Thanksgiving on December 3rd when the Ohio Christian Trailblazers venture to the Perry Center and "Coach J Court." Tipoff is set for 6:00 pm.
