Alice Lloyd College Golf Hosts Spring Invitational

Richmond, KY: The Alice Lloyd Men's and Women's Golf Teams started the 2023 spring semester on March 25th-26th as they hosted the ALC Spring Invitational in Richmond, KY. 

Despite wind gusts to 50 MPH during the first round, Roane State (TN) won the men's title by 12 strokes over Thomas Moore University (KY), while Indiana Tech (IN) won the women's championship by 21 strokes over Brescia University (KY). 

The men's medalist was Owen Kreuger from Cleveland State (TN), who shot 71/72 for 143 and a 2-shot win. The women's medalist was Meredith Mayes from Brescia University who shot83/77 for 160 and a 2-shot win.

For ALC, five members of the men's team and two members of the women's team competed.

The ALC Men's team shot 350 the first round, led by freshman Jacob Rowe who shot a 79, The squad then shot 325 the second round, led by junior Mason Compton, who shot 73. For the event, the club finished 8th out of 11 squads.

Below are the results for the Caney Creek crew with comments from Coach Robert Hamilton regarding his Lady Eagle finishers:

Kennedy Bowen shot 99/94 for 193 to finish 41 of 53 players. She is really starting to strike the ball well and becoming one of the longer hitters in women's events.

Haleigh Jefferson shot 108/109 for 217 to finish 49th of 53 players. Her game continues to improve, and her low trajectory shot was perfect for the first round.

Jacob Rowe shot 79/77 for 156 to finish 23rd of 59 players (his best tournament to date).

Mason Compton shot 84/73 for 157 to finish T24. 

Shad Sauvage shot 94/90 for 184 to finish 51 of 59 players.

Isaac Bowen shot 93/95 for 188 to finish 52 of 59 players.

Chase Petry shot 107/85 for 192 to finish 54 of 59 players.
