Alice Lloyd Eagles Women and Men’s Golf Opens 2023 Season

Prestonsburg, KY: On August 28-29th, the Alice Lloyd College golf teams, under the guidance of first-year coach Ryne Loggins, traveled to Stonecrest Golf Course to participate in the UPike Fall Invite. Four women's squads, with 26 participants, and ten men's squads with 56 participants, battled torrential rains at times in the season opener for most clubs. 

 

In the women's completion, ALC would finish in 4th place. The opening day saw the course resemble a small lake in spots, which led to low scores. Alice Lloyd would end the first day with a +104 while on day two, the Pippa Passes club finished at +283. This led to a two-day total of +387, and a 4th place showing. 

Individually, the Lady Eagles were led by Kennedy Bowen in 8th place with a two -day total of 152 (+25) and Maddie Ward in 13th place (+63). They were followed by Haleigh Jefferson (+101), and Haley Dye(+198). 

 

In the men's event, after the final putt had dropped, ALC would find themselves in 6th place. Alice Lloyd would end the opening day with a +33 and seventh place spot. On day two, the Pippa Passes club improved their score by thirteen stokes. This led to a two-day total of +53, and a 6th Place showing.

 

Individually, the Eagles were led by Mason Compton, who tied for 20th place with a two-day total of 152 (+8). He was followed by Jason Price, whose 159 (+15) earned him a tie for 28th, while Dillon Fields and Chase Petry each shot a 171 (+17) to tie for 34th. Other finishers include: Ethan Rich (+19), Cole Smith (+33), Issac Bowen (+34), and Layne Masters (+42).
