Alice Lloyd Eagles Women and Men’s Golf Host Spring Invite in Richmond

Richmond, KY: On March 23rd-24th, the Alice Lloyd College golf teams traveled to Battlefield Golf Club in Richmond, Kentucky, where they hosted the ALC Spring Classic. The weather on the first day was rough, with 30mph winds. Fortunately, conditions were improved for the second day.

Fourteen squads took to the links for the event with 81 men and 43 women signed up for the links. After the last shot had been fired, ALC would settle for a 7th-place finish.

In the women's competition, ALC had two ladies compete, and both gave a good effort. Haleigh Jefferson would fire a 192 to finish at +48, while Hailey Dye would shoot a 237.

In the men's event, ALC would earn themselves a 7th-place finish. They produced a two-day total of 618, which included tying the school record by shooting 305 on the second day.

Individually overall, the Eagles were led by Mason Compton, who played well and finished tenth by firing a 76-73 for a 149 (+9).

He was followed by nice performances from Dillion Fields, who shot 156 (+16), and Caleb Leonard, who finished just behind at 157 (+17). This earned them ties for the 30th and 38th positions, respectively.

In addition, Jason Price (159, + 19) and Chase Petry (163, + 123 ) both gave solid performances as well, and each had scores in the 70's on Day 2.

The ALC golf team will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday in the 2024 UPike Invitational, hosted by Pikeville University. It will take place at Stonecrest Golf Course in Prestonsburg, where they look to keep the momentum going.
