Alice Lloyd Soccer Hosts University of Cincinnati Clermont

Pippa Passes, KY: On October 21st, the Alice Lloyd Eagles soccer team played host to the University of Cincinnati-Clermont on Mullinax Field. In a close game that was scoreless at intermission, UCC would eventually pull out the 3-1 win.

The game was tight throughout the first half as both squads battled to put points on the scoreboard. Due to the solid defensive effort, the two evenly matched teams would go into the locker room at halftime, deadlocked with a 0-0 score.

In the second half, the guests would break through with a goal at 48:12 (1-0). Soon after, at 55:20, they would strike again for a 2-0 lead. Finally, ALC responded at minute 68:45, when Isaiah Zuidema took a nice pass from Isaiah Collins and drove it into the net. The shot cut the deficit to one (2-1).

Now, needing a point to tie the game, the Eagles suffered a big blow when UC-Clermont managed to net an insurance goal at 74:30 (3-1). Unfortunately, that score would hold until the final horn sounded.

On the day, the home club was limited to 6 shots on goal, compared to the Ohio club's 18. Both squads had 5 corner kicks. The visitors led in fouls, 8-5.

On offense, Zuidema had a single goal, while Collins provided the assist. Defensively, ALC goalie Joseph Westphal registered 4 saves.

The Eagles (2-6-2) return to action on Tuesday, October 25th, when they host Crown College at 4:00 pm.
