Alice Lloyd Soccer Battles Campbellsville University-Harrodsburg to a Draw

Harrodsburg, KY: On October 3rd, the Alice Lloyd College Eagles took to the road to face the Campbellsville University- Harrodsburg Pioneers in soccer action. After 90 minutes of play, the contest ended in a 1-1 tie.

The Eagles committed two critical errors in the first half. First, Maddux Camden scored a goal in the 25th minute, but it was nullified due to a foul. Later, just before intermission, Camden struck again with another goal. Unfortunately, an offside call canceled that one out as well.

The saving grace for the visitors was that their defense remained stingy, and they prevented UC Harrodsburg from scoring any during the first 45 minutes. Consequently, the two squads would go to the locker room locked in a 0-0 duel.

In the second half, the Pioneers finally broke through in the 51st minute with a score to take a 1-0 lead. The Pippa Passes club would then be forced to respond or go down to defeat.

Finally, in minute 73, ALC's Maddux delivered a huge goal, and this time, it stood. Now the contest was knotted at 1-1.

Both clubs battled for the remaining 16 minutes, but neither could connect for a game-winning score. After 90 minutes of intense play, the result was a tie.

On the day, UCH fired 25 shots compared to the Eagles 11, and the Eagles made 13 big saves compared to the Pioneers 3. A 4-1 offsides advantage for the host squad would hurt the Caney Creek crew, while the Eagles held a slight 8-7 advantage in corner kicks.

The Eagles (1-5-1) return to action on Friday, October 6th, when they venture to the Peach State to face Toccoa Falls (GA). Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
