Alice Lloyd Soccer Pitches Shutout Over Appalachian Bible

Pippa Passes (KY): The Alice Lloyd Eagles soccer team hosted the Appalachian Bible College Warriors (2-8) on October 17th in NCCAA Mideast Regional action. The Eagles played well and earned the first shutout in the program's short history, 10-0.

In the opening half, Maddux Camden got the scoring started when he took a pass from Johnny Zuidema and drove it home (1-0). Just two minutes later, Zuidema did the honors as he scored a goal off an assist from River Conley for a 2-0 advantage.

Conley would assist once again on the next ALC goal. In the 16th minute, he led Dylan Moore with a nice pass, and he drove it home (3-0).

Later, in the 33rd minute, Javier Polly would lace a Sawyer Crum pass into the net for a 4-0 lead. Then, just before intermission, in the 44th minute, Christian Winter scored on an assist from Moore. The hosts would enter the locker room leading 5-0.

In the second half, the Caney Creek boys picked up where they left off as Moore scored just two minutes in on a Camden assist (6-0). Later, at the 58th minute, Camden hit pay dirt again, this time, on a pass from Crum (7-0).

The Pippa Passes posses would add three more scores to their tally. Polly scored the squad's eighth goal of the day in the 75th minute on Ethan Perkins's assist.

Camden then achieved his third goal two minutes later when he lined Moore's assist past the outstretched arms of the goalkeeper (9-0). The final score came in the 89th minute, courtesy of a solo kick off the foot of Anthony Manzoni (10-0)

On the day, the victors fired 31 shots compared to the Warriors' 9 and had 9 saves compared to ABC's 18. Alice Lloyd also doubled up on corner kicks (8-4), but did commit more fouls (7-4) than the West Virginia squad.

Individually, on the offensive side, Camden had the hat trick while Moore and Polly recorded 2 goals apiece.  In addition, Moore, Conley, and Crum each accounted for 2 assists.

On defense, Eli Hayton and Joseph Cook both protected the goal for a half, as the duo combined for the historic shutout.

ALC (3-6-2) returns home this Friday, October 20th, when they host the Boyce College Bulldogs at 3:00 pm.
