Alice Lloyd Eagles Soccer Battles Kentucky Christian University to 1-1 Tie

Grayson, KY:  On August 4th, the Alice Lloyd College Eagles ventured to Grayson to face the home-standing Kentucky Christian University Knights in soccer action. In a hard-fought contest, the game would end in a 1-1 tie.

ALC Coach Juan Lander's club displayed a good defensive effort, which the Knights matched. After 45 minutes of action, the two clubs headed into intermission locked in a 0-0 duel.

In the second half, ALC would strike pay dirt. At the 47:38 mark, Jenson Harbaugh made a nice pass to Dylan Moore on the right side of the net. Moore then found Bryan Amadore on the left side of the goal, who proceeded to drive the ball square into the net to give his squad a 1-0 lead.

The Eagle defense remained stellar and the Pippa Passes posse maintained its control until misfortune struck.

At 75:00, KCU received a free-kick opportunity. The powerful shot missed but struck the leg of an Eagle defender and ricocheted into the net, making the score 1-1.

From there, the two combatants' defense remained rock steady as the clock wound down towards the final minute. The contest would end, but not without some high drama.

With just 0.02 remaining, ALC was fouled, and Harbaugh was awarded a free-kick opportunity to break the tie. With the crowd on its feet in anticipation, they saw Harbaugh unleash a strong shot towards the right side of the goal. The ball flew pass the outstretched arms of the goalie, but incredibly, the ball caught the side part of the goalpost and bounced out to end the contest knotted at 1-1.

On the day, the hosts (0-2-1) fired 21 shots compared to ALC's 12. KCU also led in corner kicks (6-2) and saves (4-2), while the Eagles committed more fouls, 16-13.

Pippa Passes goalie Joseph Westphal registered 2 saves. KCU stopped 5 Eagle attempts.

ALC (0-1-1) returns to action on Monday, September 9th, when they host Johnson University, Tennessee. Game time is set for 6:00 pm.
