Alice Lloyd Eagles Soccer earns huge road victory over Ohio Christian University, 2-1
Circleville, OH: On September 19th, the Alice Lloyd College Eagles traveled to the Buckeye State to battle the Ohio Christian University Trailblazers in soccer action. A strong effort on both ends of the field would make all the difference as ALC pulled off the huge 2-1 victory.
OCU came out in the first half and took advantage of a powerplay to dent the scoreboard at 12:52. This gave them a 1-0 lead.
However, after that, the Eagle defense became stingy. Neither team was able to connect the remainder of the half, so the hosts would enter the locker room at the break clinging to their 1-0 edge.
In the second half, the Pippa Passes posse stuck back. At 61:54, Jensen Harbaugh took a nice Bryan Amadore pass and laced it through the net to knot the game at 1-1.
Then, less than four minutes later, Eagle Tyler Brammer took the ball and raced down the field. His well-placed shot was true, and suddenly at 65:44, the Kentucky boys led, 2-1.
For the next thirty minutes, the Ohio squad fought to gain points, but the Alice Lloyd defense was as solid as a rock wall, repelling all efforts to score. At last, when the final buzzer sounded, it was a happy crew of Eagles that left the field with the massive victory.
On the day, the victors fired 6 shots, compared to Ohio Christians 16. OCU had more corner kicks (8-3) while ALC led in saves, 9-3.
Pippa Passes goalie Joseph Westphal started and went the first half. He allowed just 1 goal and recording a pair of saves. Bryan Cook came on for the second half and blanked the Trailblazers, stopping 7 shots on goal.
Offensively, Harbaugh and Jensen recorded the Eagle goals while Amadore had one assist.
ALC (2-3-1) returns to action on Monday, September 23rd, when they host the Kentucky Christian University Knights. Game time is set for 6:30pm.
