Alice Lloyd Eagles Soccer earns nice victory over Southwest Virginia, 4-3
Pippa Passes, KY: On October 6th, the Alice Lloyd College Eagles returned home to battle the Southwest Virginia Flying Eagles (3-6-2) in soccer action. In a contest that the hosts led from start to finish, ALC pulled out the 4-3 victory.
The hometown squad struck first when Dylan Moore went solo nine minutes in for the first point of the game (1-0). Then, just five minutes later, Moore would take a feed from Tyler Brammer and send another shot straight into the net. ALC now led 2-0.
After a penelty from Alice Lloyd aided SV in denting the scoreboard at 23:00, and sliceing the deficit in half (2-1), Moore would come through once more for the home fans at 34:00, this time knocking in his third score of the day on a nice assist from Jensen Harbaugh. The Eagles would enter the dressing room at intermission holding a 3-1 advantage,
In the second half, another costly penelty by the hosts gave Southwest a free kick once more, and they used it their advantage, cutting the lead to 3-2. However, the Pippa Passes posse stuck again when Harbaugh bagged a huge solo shot at 78:00 to give his mates some breathing room (4-2).
With just two minutes remaining in the contest, the Virginia squad would raise the tension by making a successful kick (4-3), but the host Eagles would manage to hang on till the final buzzer and preserve the satisfying victory.
On the day, the victors fired 11 shots, compared to Southwest Virginias 10. Moore led the way on offense with the hat trick, while Harbaugh provided a goal and assist. Brammer added an assist of his own.
Pippa Passes goalie Joseph Westphal took the win in the net, as he allowed 3 goals and recorded 7 saves.
ALC (4-4-1) returns to action on Tuesday, October 8th, when they travel to Southwestern Virginia for the return match.. Game time is set for 4:00pm.
