Alice Lloyd Cross Country Participates in River States Conference Championship

EVANSVILLE, Ind: The Red Wolves of Indiana University East again proved themselves as the dominant women's cross country program in the River States Conference on Saturday, winning their second straight RSC title Saturday morning at the Angel Mounds Historic Site in Evansville, Indiana. The Red Wolves dominated the 2024 River States Conference Cross Country Championships, finishing 27 points ahead of team runner-up Shawnee State.

IU East placed all five of their scoring runners within the top 20, with each runner earning some type of All-Conference recognition. The three teams behind the Red Wolves were tightly bunched, with Shawnee State just six points ahead of third place Rio Grande, and fourth place Midway just one point behind the RedStorm.

The Red Wolves also took home the hardware on the individual level, with Cassandra Schrubb winning the race and taking home Runner of the Year honors with a time of 22:11.2. For Alice Lloyd College, they had one runner toe the starting line, represented by Kaitlynn Ratliff. She would run the 6K race in 27:16. This placed her in 42nd place out of 72 total runners.

On the men's side of the equation, the Bears of Shawnee State University remained the top men's cross country program in the River States Conference, winning their second straight RSC title Saturday morning at the Angel Mounds Historic Site in Evansville, Indiana. The Bears repeated as champions in their second season in the league, and moved their streak to nine straight conference titles dating back to their time in the Mid-South Conference.

Saturday's race featured three of the nation's top 20 teams, with Rio Grande ranked eighth, Shawnee State ranked 19th, and IU East ranked 20th in the most recent NAIA Coaches' Poll. Shawnee State won the team title by four points over Rio Grande, with IU East another nine points back. Shawnee State's team title was powered by placing all five of their scoring runners in the top 15.

Rio Grande's Tyler Jenkins won the individual title, and took home RSC Runner of the Year honors. Jenkins ran the Angel Mounds course in 24:52.3, with Jenkins and IU East's Mylan Nocton the only runners to check in under 25 minutes. 

For Alice Lloyd College, they would also send one runner to the starting gate. Noah Harris completed the 8K race in a time of 32:21. This earned him a 92nd place finish.
