Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles Open Basketball Season, Defeat Welch Lady Flames, 73-49
Pippa Passes, KY: The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles, under the direction of Coach John Mills, opened the 2022-23 basketball season on October 28th by hosting the Welch College Lady Flames. The Pippa Passes squad came out of the gates with a balanced offense, dominating rebounding, and solid team defense and used that to roll to the 73-49 win.
In the opening period, ALC displayed a spread attack as five Lady Eagles scored. On the defensive end, the Flames were limited to just two made shots. This would enable the home squad to lead 16-6 after ten minutes of action.

As the third period began, Welch would attempt to work their way back into contention and battle to get the deficit to single digits. However, seven Pippa Passes girls dented the scorebook in the stanza, which gave their club the quarter 18-13. The hosts led 49-28 after thirty minutes.
In the final period, the Caney Creek crew would see senior guard Hannah Kash and sophomore guard Katie Jo Moore combine for 11 points to lift their squad to a 24-point quarter.
