Lady Eagles Overcome Nine Point Halftime Deficit, Defeat Union College 82-65

Pippa Passes, KY:  Senior guard Hannah Kash poured in 33 points to help the Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles overcome a halftime deficit for the sixth game this season. This time, the Lady Bulldogs of Union College were the victims, falling to ALC 82-65. The nonconference matchup took place Friday afternoon, December 30th.

In the opening period, the visitors relied on 9 points from McKenzie Himes to give her club a 22-18 advantage after ten minutes of play. Kash provided 8 for the hosts.

In the second quarter, 57% shooting from the Barboursville club allowed them to take the stanza 20-15. The Bulldogs would enter intermission with a solid 42-33 lead.

In the third period, the Caney Creek club would do as they have so many times this season and hold their opponents to a single-digit segment with impressive defense. Offensively, Kash would pump-in 9 more points to propel her squad to a 20-8 run. This would enable the Pippa Passes ladies to take a 53-50 advantage heading into the last ten minutes.

In the final stanza, the Lady Eagles would unload as Kash combined with sophomore back-court-mate Katie Jo Moore to pour in 19 huge points and blow the contest open. ALC would take the period 29-15, and earn their eleventh victory of the season.

For the Pippa Passes posse (11-2), Kash drained 13-21 field goals to lead everyone with 33 points. She completed the double-double as she snagged 11 rebounds. She also registered 4 steals.

Moore was joined by senior center Bailee Brainard in the double-figure department as each contributed 15 points on the day. Moore led the way with 3 assists, while Brainard swatted 2 shots. Junior forward Madison Thompson also swatted 2 shots and chipped in with 8 rebounds.

The victors won shooting 50% (33-66) from the field and 16.7% (2-12) from long range. They connected on 77.7% (14-18) from the foul line, and added 38 rebounds, 12 assists, and 9 steals.

Union (2-12) was paced by Himes with 22 points. Her squad finished shooting 42.1% (24-57) from the field and 37.5% (6-16) from long range. They connected on 68.8% (11-16) from the foul line. They also added 33 rebounds, 17 assists, and 3 steals.

The Lady Eagles return to action next Tuesday in a huge conference showdown at Oakland City University on January 3rd. Tipoff is set for 2:00pm (EST).
