Lady Eagles Use Big First Half to Defeat Ohio Christian University on Senior Day

Pippa Passes, KY:   Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles senior Hannah Kash just missed a triple-double as she led the homestanding Eagles to a big 78-65 victory over the Ohio Christian University Trailblazers. The Senior Day matchup took place Saturday afternoon, February 11th, at the Perry Campus Center on "Coach J" court.

In the opening period, Kash pumped in seven of her clubs nineteen points, to help the hosts run out to a 19-9 advantage after ten minutes of play.

In the second quarter, ALC would see Kash and freshman guard Shelby Stewart combine for sixteen more points to give their squad even more separation. Their combined play would enable the Caney Creek club to enter the locker room with a solid 46-29 advantage at intermission.

In the third period, the visitors would turn to Rachel Bolyard, and she sparked her club to a solid twenty-four-point quarter. Her production would help her team reduce the deficit to twelve, 65-53, heading into the last ten minutes.

In the final quarter, the pace would slow, but ALC would refuse to give ground. The Lady Eagles would only score 13 points, but their defense kept the Trailblazers at bay, limiting them to just twelve points, and the Ohio squad would go down to defeat.

For the Caney Creek crew (17-6; 10-5 RSC), Kash would put up impressive numbers. The guard scored 25 points, while adding 9 boards, 10 assists, and 3 steals. Stewart drained three bombs, and scored 14 points. Senior center Bailee Brainard came through with a huge double-double of her own as she chipped in with 11 points and snagged 12 rebounds, while junior forward Madison Thompson added 9 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 blocks.

The victors won shooting 39.1% (27-69) from the field and 40% (10-25) from long range. They connected on 70% (14-20) from the foul line, and added 44 rebounds, 22 assists, and 7 steals.

Ohio Christian (7-18; 5-10 RSC) was led by Bolyard with 28 points. Her squad finished shooting 31.6% (18-57) from the field and 20% (6-30) from long range. They connected on 71.8% (23-32) from the foul line. They also added 45 rebounds, 13 assists, and 8 steals.

The Lady Eagles return to action next Tuesday, February 14th, at 5:30pm, in a huge conference showdown at highly ranked Rio Grande University. They then close the regular season Saturday, February 18th at home against West Virginia Tech University. Tipoff is set for 1:00pm.
