Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles Drop Close 69-61 Exhibition Match at King University

Bristol, TN: On Tuesday, November 21st, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles traveled to the Volunteer State to face NCAA DII opponent, King University. The Lady Eagles battled the Lady Tornado for forty minutes before dropping a close 69-61 decision.

In the opening period, both squads had trouble finding the basket as the shooting was cold. However, thanks to 7 points from senior guard Hannah Kash, the Lady Eagles would only trail 15-10 after ten minutes of action.

In the second quarter, the Tornado would pull out to a 25-12 advantage three minutes in. Fortunately, the Kentucky club would respond with 8 consecutive Kash points to get back in contention. Both clubs would sink 7 field goals in the segment, but a late King free throw would send them into intermission nursing a 32-27 advantage.

In the third period, ALC junior guard Katie Jo Moore would drain three buckets as her club made three more field goals than the host squad. This would enable her team to slice the deficit to just one point (42-41) at 2:34.

KU would manage to sink several late free throws, and these permitted them to enter the last period clinging to a 47-43 lead.

In the final stanza, the guests would see Lady Eagle sophomore forward McKenzie Maynard pump in 10 points to keep her squad within striking distance. Unfortunately, the Tennessee squad would double up on the free throws and sink enough of them to hold off the Caney Creek club and earn the win.

For Alice Lloyd, in a game that does not count against their record, three players reached double figures. They were led on the night by Kash, who recorded a game-high 23 points. She also added 4 boards and 5 assists.

Maynard and Moore were next with 14 and 10 points respectively. Maynard also snagged 6 rebounds and added 3 blocks and 2 steals, while Moore had 2 steals and 4 rebounds.
