Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles fall at Point Park (PA) despite Kash’s 41 points
Pittsburgh, PA: On Saturday, December 9th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles traveled to Pittsburg, Pennsylvania to face a tough Point Park University Pioneers squad. The home club overcame a monster first half performance from ALC senior guard Hannah Kash to prevail against the short-handed Lady Eagles, 86-66.
In the opening period, the Pippa Passes ladies, who were playing with three of their main rotation players out with injuries, looked to Kash to get them started. The senior did not disappoint.as she bagged 4-5 field goals and all of her long bombs for 13 points. Still, her squad would trail 19-16 after ten minutes of action.
In the second quarter, Kash really caught fire. The smooth guard only missed one of her eight attempts as she poured in 18 more points on a variety of moves. This would keep her ALC team close. However, a balance attack from the Pioneers, led by Gabriella Legister, would enable PPU to go into intermission nursing a slight 41-39 lead.
In the third period, the big city girls were determined to slow Kash down and they threw everything but the kitchen sink at her on defense, The Kentucky girls would only shoot 33% in the stanza and be outscored, 21-13, which propelled the Steel City club to a 62-52 advantage entering the final ten minutes of action.
In the final stanza, Point Park came out with two big bombs and an old-fashioned three-point play as they roared out of the gate on a 11-2 burst. They would lead 73-54 by the midway point, and would maintain their advantage until the final buzzer.
