
Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles close 2023 at Lindsey Wilson
Columbia, KY: On Friday, December 29th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles traveled to Columbia to face a red-hot Lindsey Wilson Blue Raider squad in non-league action for the final game of 2023.
The Lady Eagles had defeated LWC on November 17th, 85-79. Since that loss, the Raiders had won 7 of 9 contests. On this occasion, the Blue Raiders continued their impressive play, and took a convincing 87-43 victory.
In the opening period, ALC jumped out to a quick 6-4 lead at 6:40. From there, the hosts would close on a 19-8 run, and take a 23-14 advantage after ten minutes of action.
In the second quarter, the Blue Raiders controlled the action and reeled off a decisive 21-9 burst. Due to this, the Columbia club would enter the locker room with a commanding 44-23 cushion
In the third period, LWU turned to forward Lucy Patterson on offense and she delivered 8 points. Her production would enable the Blue Raiders to pull ahead 66-36 heading into the last quarter.
In the final period, the hosts would continue their steady play as the Pippa Passes club remained cold from the floor. A 21-7 advantage would give the Mid-South squad an easy 87-43 win.
For Alice Lloyd (7-5), freshman guard Abby Maggard produced 12 points. However, she was the only player to reach double-figures. Senior guard Hannah Kash, added 7 points. Senior forward Madison Thompson grabbed 7 boards, blocked 2 shots, and nabbed 2 steals. Freshman center Emily Estes joined her with 2 blocks of her own
The eastern Kentucky team finished shooting 32% (16-50) from the field and a frigid 13.3% (2-15) from long range. They also sank just 50% (9-18) from the foul line while adding 30 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 blocks and 3 steals.
Patterson paced LWU (12-4) with 17 points. Her squad finished shooting 46.4% (32-69) from the field, 37.5% (6-16) from behind the arc, and 77.3% (17-22) from the charity stripe. They also added 48 rebounds, 17 assists, 2 blocks and 11 steals
The Lady Eagles are off until January 2nd, when they return home for a conference matchup with the Oakland City Lady Oaks at 3:00 p.m.
