
Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles host Oakland City Lady Oaks
Pippa Passes, KY: On Tuesday, January 2nd, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles hosted a talented Oakland City Lady Oaks (IN) squad in RSC play. The Oaks used a blistering first period to cruise to the 98-54 victory.
In the opening stanza, OCU held the hosts to just 1-10 shooting as they blew out to a lead. They would hold a 25-4 advantage after ten minutes of action.
In the second quarter, the hosts attempted to fight back and only dropped the period, 18-16. However, they would still trail, 43-20 at intermission.
In the third period, ALC would have three players each provide five points. Unfortunately, the Indiana team still took the segment, 25-21, and led 68- 41 heading into the last quarter.
In the final period, Oakland City continued the press they used the entire way, and it led to 30 more points on the board. In the meantime, the Lady Eagles could never provide a sustained run to get within striking distance, as they eventually dropped the decision.
For Alice Lloyd (7-6; 2-3 RSC), senior guard Hannah Kash led the squad with 15 points and completed the double-double with 10 boards. She added 3 steals, and tied two of her teammates with 2 assists apiece. However, she was the lone Eagle in double-figures
She was followed by freshman forward Jamie Cowen with 9 points, and 6 rebounds. She tied Kash and senior guard Hannah Malcomson with 2 assists each. In addition, senior forward Madison Ward, with added 7 points while senior forward Madison Thompson returned from an injury to swat 4 shots in limited play.
The eastern Kentucky team finished shooting 29.7% (19-64) from the field and a frigid 23.3 (7-30) from long range. They also sank 60 (9-15) from the foul line while adding 36 rebounds, 10assists, 6 blocks and 5 steals.
Emilee Hope paced the Oaks (8-5; 4-0 RSC) with 25 points. Her squad finished shooting 50.7% (37-73) from the field, 48% (12-25) from behind the arc, and 54.5% (12-22) from the charity stripe. They also added 53 rebounds, 23 assists, 3 blocks and 15 steals
The Lady Eagles are off until Saturday, January 6th when they journey to Owensboro to face the Brescia Lady Bearcats in an important conference contest. Tipoff is set for 2:00 pm (EST)
