Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles mow down Indiana University East Red Wolves, 90-53

Pippa Passes, KY: On Saturday, January 13th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles hosted the Indiana University East Red Wolves in RSC action. The Kentucky squad came ready to play and took down the Hoosier squad 90-53.

In the opening stanza, both squads shot well. However, sparked by 7 points from junior guard Katie Jo Moore, ALC would pull out to a 24-19 lead after ten minutes of play. They were just getting started.

In the second quarter, the hosts turned to senior guard Hannah Kash and freshman guard Kaylee Banks who combined to pump in 17 big points. The hosts would rip off 27 points overall, and entered the locker room at intermission with a big 51-31 advantage.

 In the third period, it would be freshman guard Abby Maggard's turn to catch fire, and she drilled a trio of long bombs on her way to a 11-point quarter. A 21-16 edge point would lift ALC to a 72-47 cushion heading into the last quarter.

In the final period, the Pippa Passes club would limit the Red Wolves to just 6 points while utilizing the bench to pump in 18 more points. The hometown club would cruise on their way to the huge 37-point victory.

For Alice Lloyd (9-7; 4-4 RSC), Kash, led the way by pouring in 28 points on 10-22 field goals and 6-6 free throws. She added 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.

She was followed by Maggard, with 18 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists of her own. In addition, Moore added 12 points and 5 rebounds while Banks chipped in with 11 points and 5 more boards.

Freshman forward Jamie Cowan led the squad with 7 rebounds, while senior guard Riley Schreck tied for the assist lead with 4.

The eastern Kentucky team finished shooting 49.8% (34-69) from the field and 45% (9-20) from long range. They also sank a perfect 100% (13-13) from the foul line while adding 45 rebounds, 20 assists, 4 blocks and 8 steals.

IUE (8-8; 3-3 RSC) was led by Taylor Farris with 16 points. Her squad finished shooting 32.8% (20-61) from the field, 23.1% (6-26) from behind the arc, and 63.6% (7-11) from the charity stripe. They also added 32 rebounds, 11 assists, 5 blocks and 5 steals

The Lady Eagles are off until Thursday, January 18th when they travel to Kokomo, Indiana to face the host Cougars. Tipoff is set for 5:30 pm.
