Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles Basketball travels to Milligan
Milligan, TN: On Tuesday, October 29th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles ventured to the Volunteer state to face a solid Milligan College Buffaloes (1-0) squad. The hosts rode the play of guard Jaycie Jenkins to take the 103-63 victory.
In the opening period, the hosts scored 29 points, fueled by 12 points from Jenkins. On the other hand, Lady Eagle guards senior Katie Jo Moore, and sophomore Kennedy Harvel split 10 points. However, their squad trailed 29-15 after ten minutes of action.
In the second quarter, ALC only sank 2-17 shots and were outscored 22-9. Because of this, Milligan would head into intermission leading big, 51-24.
In the third period, the Pippa Passes crew saw Harville produce 7 more points as her team had a nice 26-point quarter. They would outscore the Buffaloes by 3 points but still trailed 74-50 entering the final quarter of play.
In the final period, MU finished like they started as Jenkins helped her crew pump in 29 more points. They would never be threatened as they raced out to the 103-63 victory.
For Alice Lloyd (0-2), Harvell and Moore finished in double figures with 15 and 13 points, respectively. Sophomore Jamie Cowan led the club with 7 rebounds and added 7 points.
Sophomore guard Abby Maggard had 4 assists, while Cowan and junior guard Aziah Campbell both nabbed 2 steals. Additionally, Campbell and sophomore center Emily Estes each swatted 1 shot.
The Caney Club finished shooting 32.4% (22-68) from the field and 27.3% (6-22) from long range. They connected on 50% (5-10) from the foul line while adding 32 rebounds, 12 assists, 2 blocks and 7 steals.
Jenkins paced MC (1-0) with a career-high 37 points. Her squad finished shooting 52.6% (40-76) from the field, 48.1% (13-27) from behind the arc, and 76.9% (10-13) from the charity stripe. They also added 42 rebounds, 27 assists, 4 blocks and 13 steals.
The Lady Eagles look to change their fortunes when they travel to Welch College on October 29th to face the Flames. Tipoff is set for 12:00 p.m.
