
ALC Lady Eagles Basketball falls on road to #7 University of the Cumberlands
Williamsburg, KY: On Tuesday, November 12th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles ventured to Williamsburg to battle the NAIA's #7 squad, the University of the Cumberlands Patriots. The host club showed why they had such a lofty ranking as they would take the contest 108-60.
In the opening period, the Patriots ran wild as they sank 16-29 attempts to produce an exceptional 41 points. They would lead 41-19 after ten minutes of action.
In the second quarter, ALC battled and held UC to 17 points while producing 15 of their own. However, the home club would take a solid 58-34 lead heading into the dressing room at intermission.
In the third, any hopes for an Eagle comeback were quickly dashed as the visitors only shot 2-14 and produced 6 points. On the other end, Cumberlands would add 29 to their tally to enter the last quarter leading 87-40.
In the final stanza, the Pippa Passes crew had a nice 20-point quarter, but the damage was already done. UC would cruise on their way to the final horn and take the big victory.
For Alice Lloyd (2-5), senior guard Katie Jo Moore led the club with 19 points and 4 rebounds. She was joined in double figures by freshman guard Elivia Moore with 14 and fellow freshman guard Bailey Stewart added 10 points, 3 blocks and 3 steals. In addition, freshman guard Ashton Barrett led the club with 6 assists.
The Caney Club finished shooting 31.9% (22-69) from the field and 28.6% (10-35) from long range. They connected on 54.5% (6-11) from the foul line while adding 19 rebounds, 13 assists, 8 blocks and 7 steals.
Kassie Monday paced UC (5-1) with 21 points. Her squad finished shooting 48.2% (41-85) from the field, 34.8% (8-23) from behind the arc, and 94.7% (18-19) from the charity stripe. They also added 61 huge rebounds, 28 assists and 13 steals.
