
Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles fall at Ohio Christian University
Circleville, OH: On Tuesday, November 19th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles ventured to the Buckeye state to battle the Ohio Christian University Lady Trailblazers in basketball action. The hosts would ride the duo of Lily Shepherd and Ashley Deweese to earn the 89-72 victory.
In the opening period, the Lady Eagles and OCU traded buckets. The hosts would score late to lead 15-12 after ten minutes of action.
In the second quarter, the Ohio club had their big burst and played well enough to capture the stanza, 25-15. This would send the Trailblazers into the locker room at intermission, holding a 40-27 cushion.
In the third period, the two squads battled each other point-for-point. However, a 22-21 advantage sent OCU into the last quarter with a 62-48 advantage.
In the final period, the tide remained in favor of the Ohio crew as a 27-point effort permitted them to keep the Lady Eagles at arm's length. When the final buzzer sounded, the hometown crew would walk away with the 19-point victory.
FOR ALC (3-7), sophomore guard Kennedy Harvel would lead the squad with 15 points, including 3-5 long-distance shooting. Classmate Jamie Cowan was just behind with a 14-point, 7 rebound performance. She added a pair of blocks. Also reaching double-digits was senior guard Katie Jo Moore, finishing with 13 points on 6-10 accuracy. She added 5 boards. Additionally, freshman guard Bailey Stewart led the way with 3 assists.
The Caney Club finished shooting 43.9% (25-57) from the field and 21.7% (5-23) from long range. They connected on 81.3% (13-16) from the foul line while adding 32 rebounds, 10 assists and 6 blocks.
Shepherd and Deweese paced OCU (3-4) with 28 and 25 points respectively. Their squad finished shooting 45.6% (31-68) from the field, 35.5% (11-31) from behind the arc and 80% (16-20) from the charity stripe. They also added 33 rebounds, 22 assists and 3 blocks.
The Lady Eagles are off until December 4th, when they travel to Morehead State University for an exhibition match at 4:00 p.m.
