Big first half propels Alice Lloyd to 89-67 victory over Campbellsville-Harrodsburg

Pippa Passes, KY: On Friday, December 20th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles hosted the Campbellsville Harrodsburg Lady Pioneers in NCCAA action. The hosts got off to a great start, and rode that effort to a solid 89-67 win.

In the opening period, seven different Lady Eagles would score in a balanced attack. They would race out to a 24-9 leads after ten minutes of play.

In the second quarter, the home club would repeat that feat as seven memebers of the Pippa Passes posse would dent the scorebook once more. Sparked by the one-two punch of freshman guard Bailey Stewart and sophomore forward Jamie Cowan, the 23 point effort would enable the home fans to see there club enter the locker room with a 47-19 advantage at intermission.

In the third period, the Pioneers turned to Jada Bell, who helpedher squad pump in 27 points. Despite their big segment, the Caney Creek club would still enter the last stanza holding a solid 64-47 cushion.

In the fourth, Alice Lloyd saw sophomore guard Kennedy Harvel run wild as she swished 5 long bombs to slam the door shut on the visitors. The home fans would leave for the Christmas holiday with an early gift as the blue and white would seal the 22 point victory.

For Alice Lloyd (5-8), three players would hit double-digits. They were led by Harvel who shot a blazing-hot 8-10 from behind the arc for 24 points. Stewart added 13 points, 5 boards, and 5 assists. Cowan earned a big double-double as she chipped in 12 points and 13 rebounds.

In addition,sophomore center Emily Estes contributed 8 points and 7 boards, while freshman guard Elivia Moore had 3 steals.

The Caney Club finished shooting 45.3% (34-75) from the field and 37.5% (12-32) from long range. They connected on 75% (9-12) from the foul line while adding 49 rebounds, 18 assists, and 8 steals.

Bell paced WC (3-13) with 18 points apiece. Her squad finished shooting 35.6% (21-59) from the field, 43.3% (13-30) from behind the arc, and 63.2% (12-19) from the charity stripe. They also added 34 rebounds, 16 assists, and 11 steals.

The Lady Eagles return home on January 4th as they ring in 2025 by hosting the West Virginia Tech Golden Bears. Tipoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
