Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles travel to Southwest Virginia

Cedar Bluff, VA: On October 8th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles soccer squad traveled to Cedar Bluff, Virginia for a match against the Southwest Virginia Flying Eagles (5-4) . The squads had just played on Sunday, but due to a weather cancellation, the rematch fell just two days later. When the final horn sounded, the hosts had pulled out a 6-0 victory.

The game started well for the home club, as they scored the first goal in the opening eight minutes to go ahead, 1-0. They would ride that momentum the entire half, adding five more big scores before intermission. Southwest would hold a solid 6-0 advantage at the break.

In the second half, the Lady Eagles tightened up on defense and held SWV scoreless. However, despite three shots on goal from Lady Eagle Alexis Skeens, the Kentucky women were unable to cut into the lead, and the score remained unchanged at the final buzzer.

On the day, the victors won the shots-on-goal war, 18-3. Pippa Passes goalie Karrie Hall registered 12 saves.

ALC (0-8) returns to action on Tuesday, October 11th, when they travel to Toccoa Falls, Georgia for a 2:00 pm showdown.
