
ALC Volleyball Opens 2022 Season with Sweep
Pippa Passes, KY: On September 6th, Coach Nathan Hall's Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles volleyball team hosted the Appalachian Bible College Lady Warriors in the season opener. After the dust had settled, the home squad earned a nice win in 3 games.
In set 1, the match was close early as ALC led by just one (10-9). However, from that juncture, the Lady Eagles went on an 11-4 burst to sprint ahead 21-13 and eased to the 25-17 victory.
In set 2, the Pippa Passes ladies led the entire way, exploding out of the gate on a 9-1 run. They would maintain a comfortable margin throughout this one as they cruised to the 25-14 win.
In set 3, the Lady Warriors produced the first point, only to watch Alice Lloyd score 8 of the next 9, and lead 8-2. The hosts then unleashed another impressive run (11-5) which propelled them to a 19-7 cushion. This contest was never in doubt, as the home fans received a 25-19-win that sealed the deal on the nice victory.
On the day, Caroline Parsons and Kristin Isaac led ALC with 13 and 12 assists, while Kyleah Ward (8), Adreonna Schutz (7), and Reiley McCoy (7) paved the way in kills. Jenni Droke led in digs with 16, while Ward (6) and Brooklyn Cheek (5) came up big in blocks. Schutz led with 4 aces.
The Lady Eagles return to action this Saturday, September 10th, when they host Boyce College in a doubleheader at 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm.
