Alice Lloyd Volleyball Travels to the University of Rio Grande
Rio Grande, OH: On October 18th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles volleyball team journeyed to the Buckeye state to battle the Rio Grande University Red Storm (13-8;7-3 RSC), in River States Conference action. The visitors fought hard but fell in 3 sets to the division's second-place team.
In Set 1, the hosts took an early lead and slowly extended it on their way to a 25-16 win.
In Set 2, the Caney Creek club would fall behind quickly before mounting a strong comeback. However, trailing by just two (17-15) the Lady Eagles would witness Rio unleash 8 big kills to take the contest, 25-18.
In Set 3, ALC stayed close and trailed by just four past the midway point (16-12). Unfortunately, the Red Storm used their strength to pull away from there and end the match, 25-14.
On the day, Kristin Isaac and Caroline Parsons paced ALC with 6 and 5 assists, while Elizabeth McIntosh, Brooklyn Cheek, and Lakyn Porter led the way in kills (5,4, and 4). Jenni Droke led in digs with 10, while Porter registered 1 block. Sierra Dawson had the lone ace.
Alice Lloyd (6-13; 0-10 RSC) returns to action this weekend in two home contests. On Friday, the Carlow Celtics (9-9; 1-9 RSC) come to town for a 7:00 pm tipoff. That is followed the next day by a contest against the division's top team, the powerful Point Park Pioneers (16-5; 10-0 RSC), at 12:00 noon.
