Volleyball Concludes Season in NCCAA Mideast Regional Tournament

Grand Rapids, MI:  The 4th-seeded Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles volleyball team journeyed to Grand Rapids, Michigan, to participate in the NCCAA Mideast Regional Tournament on Friday, November 11th. They opened up play by sweeping the 5th-seeded Appalachian Bible College Lady Warriors 3-0 to advance to the semi-final round and face the top-seeded Boyce Lady Bulldogs. Against Boyce, they battled hard before falling 3-0 to end the season.

ALC-3, ABC-0

Against Appalachian in set 1, the Eagles jumped ahead quickly and pulled away to a 25-15 victory.

In set 2, ALC looked sharp as they got off to a great start and grabbed a big lead. They continued their solid play and rolled to the big 25-13 win.

In set 3, the Warriors fought hard and kept the match much closer. However, the Pippa Passes girls refused to be denied as they closed with a nice run to take the game and win the contest, 25-18.

For the match, Caroline Parsons led ALC with 10 assists. Kyleah Ward smashed 7 kills, while Reiley McCoy and Brooklyn Cheek had 5 apiece. In addition, Jenni Droke led with 14 digs, Ward and Lakyn Porter contributed 3 blocks, and Parsons smacked 2 aces. 

ALC-0; Boyce-3

The opening set saw ALC fight hard and keep the game tight. However, the Bulldogs closed well and took the win, 25-17.

In set 2, the Louisville squad roared out of the gate and never let up off the gas. They would take the big win, 25-13.

In set 3, knowing what was on the line, the squads both looked to seize the advantage and battled point-for-point. However, with the score reading 16-15, the Bulldogs closed with a clinching run and took the win, 25-19.

On the day, Kristin Isaac led ALC in assists with 7, while Parsons added 6.  Adreonna Schutz led with 5 kills. Droke led with 11 digs, while Porter registered 2 blocks.

The Lady Eagles conclude their season with an 8-12 record and will graduate three valuable student-athletes, Jenni Droke, Reiley McCoy, and Elizabeth Mcintosh.
