In Game 1, the match was close early before ALC pulled out to a 15-8 lead. However, the Royals would fight back and force a 24-24 tie. They then scored the final two points to take the tough opener, 26-24.
In Game 2, the scenario was reversed as Johnson roared out to an early lead. This time, however, the team trailing would not complete the comeback, as JU maintained their advantage on their way to a 25-13 victory.
In Game 3, the Lady Royals looked to seal the deal as they would pull out to a 21-15 cushion. To their credit, the Lady Eagles would respond and claw their way back into contention.
Eventually, after Kyleah Ward and T.K. Ellis delivered back-to-back kills, the score stood tied at 23-23. Unfortunately for the home fans, Johnson would come through with a huge kill of their own on the next possession (24-23). They then sealed the deal on a match-ending error (25-23).
On the day, Kristin Isaac and Taylor Hamilton led ALC with 16 and 10 assists, while Ward (12), Ellis (5), and Brooklyn Cheek (5) paved the way in kills. Caroline Parsons led in digs with 11 while Ellis added 7. Gracie Gibson led with 3 aces.
The Lady Eagles return to action this Tuesday, September 29th, when they travel to Pikeville to play the Lady Bears at 7:00 pm.
