
Alice Lloyd Volleyball Travels to Shawnee State University
Portsmouth, OH: On Tuesday, September 19th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles volleyball team traveled to Portsmouth, Ohio, to tangle with the newest member of the River States Conference, the Lady Bears of Shawnee State University. The visitors found the going tough all night as they dropped the contest in straight sets, 3-0.
In set 1, the scoreboard read 5-3 when the Lady Bears rolled off a massive 20-2 run to take the opener, 25-4.
In set 2, Shawnee State pulled out to a quick double-digit lead. They managed to hold the advantage until the final kill ended the game with SSU on top, 25-11.
In set 3, ALC put up a tough fight early and only trailed 11-9. Unfortunately, Shawnee proceeded to roll off a 10-1 burst and pull ahead 21-10. From there, it was a short path for the hosts to end the match with a 25-12 victory.
For the match, Kristen Isaac led ALC with 8 assists. Tianna Wesley and Kyleah Ward contributed 4 and 3 assists while Caroline Parsons produced 8 digs, Ward and Natalie Waddell recorded 2 blocks apiece, and Ward produced the lone service ace of the event.
The Lady Eagles are off for a much-needed rest until Tuesday, September 26th, when they journey to Ohio once more to face the Ohio Christian Trailblazers at 7:00 p.m.
