
Alice Lloyd Volleyball Travels to West Virginia Tech
Beckley, WV: On Tuesday, October 3rd, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles volleyball team traveled to the Mountaineer state to tangle with the West Virginia Tech University Golden Bears. The visitors battled before dropping the contest to one of the Eastern Division's top squads in straight sets.
In set 1, the Lady Eagles came out well and led 12-11. However, from that point, WVT would close with a 14-3 burst, and take the opener 25-15.
In set 2, the Golden Bears (11-10; 7-2 RSC) jumped out to an 11-3 advantage. They would then maintain that cushion the rest of the set on their way to a 25-11 win.
In set 3, ALC put up a tough fight as they only trailed 15-13. Unfortunately, the hosts took advantage of a few errors and closed the match on a 10-2 run to earn the 25-15 victory.
For the match, Kristen Isaac led ALC with 10 assists while Taylor Hamilton contributed 6. Kyleah Ward and Brooklyn Cheek provided 5 and 4 kills.
Caroline Parsons and TK Ellis registered 14 and 11 digs respectively. In addition, four different players recorded 1 block apiece.
The Lady Eagles (2-16, 0-8 RSC) have a challenging week coming up as the top two squads in the league come to Pippa Passes this weekend. On Friday, Saint Mary of the Woods visits Caney Creek for a 7:00 pm match and on Saturday, top-rated Indiana Kokomo (17-3) comes to town for a 12:00 pm tilt.
