Point Park-3; ALC- 0

The Lady Eagles put up a good fight before falling short. In set 1, the game was tight throughout, with seven ties. The visitors would make a nice run past the midway point to go up 19-16 and then see PPU tie things at 20-20.

With the score knotted up, the hosts scored 3 consecutive points to move ahead 23-20, only to see the Caney Creek crew use an error, plus a kill by Tianna Wesley, to get within one (23-22). However, the Pennsylvania squad would get back-to-back kills and pull out the 25-22 win.

In set 2, Point Park came out on fire and raced to a 10-3 lead. From there, they kept the pedal down and moved ahead 20-6. They would cruise to the finish line sporting a 25-7 win.

In set 3, ALC was determined to make amends from the previous game and looked like a different team. The fans were treated to a well-played set that saw significant action by both combatants.

PPU led early, 8-5, only to watch the Kentucky squad roll out a 7-4 burst to tie the game at 12-12. From there, the squads traded shots, and the match would be tied at 15,16 and 18 before the hosts slowly inched ahead, 23-20. On the verge of falling, the Pippa Passes posse promptly used a Pioneer error and kills from TK Ellis and Kyleah Ward to tie things once again at 23-23.

An error by ALC gave the big city squad a 24-23 edge, but the visitors had Ellis smash a shot that retied the game at 24. Unfortunately, PPU would manage to come through with consecutive kills and finally vanquish the gutsy Lady Eagles, 26-24.

As far as team stats, the home squad led in kills (45-24), assists (39-16), digs (36-26) and aces (9-5).  ALC led in block assists (12-10). Individually, for the match, Taylor Hamilton led ALC (3-28; 0-19 RSC) with 9 assists. Wesley and Ellis both had 6 kills, and Lakyn Porter added 4. Caroline Parsons produced 7 digs, Gracie Gibson chipped in with 6, and Ellis finished just behind with 5. In addition, Hamilton smacked 3 service aces, and Ward and Brooklyn Cheek delivered 3 total blocks each.

The Lady Eagles will return to action on Monday, November 6th, in Gallatin, Tennessee, when they play in the NCCAA Mideast Regional Tournament at Welch College. At 6:00 pm (EST), the #1 seeded Boyce College Bulldogs battle the #4 seeded Appalachian Bible Warriors. Then, at 8:00 pm (EST), the #2 seeded Welch College Flames host the #3 seeded ALC Lady Eagles. The two winners will advance to the championship the following day at 6:30 p.m. (EST). A berth in the NCCAA DII Volleyball National Championship awaits the winner.
