Alice Lloyd Volleyball takes split in Ohio
Cincinnati, OH: The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles volleyball team traveled to the Buckeye State on Saturday, September 7th, to face a home-standing Cincinnati Clermont club in a twin-bill. When the dust had settled, the squads would each earn one match apiece.
In the opener, the home team grabbed an early lead and slowly gained some separation. They would extend their advantage all the way to a 25-16 win.
Game 2 started similarly as the contestants traded points. However, with the scoreboard reading 18-18, UCC would make the clutch plays to win, 25-20.
With their backs against the wall in Game 3, ALC fought valiantly. They would battle Clermont point-for-point until the score stood knotted at 23-23. This time, the Kentucky crew would deliver two big scores to win, 25-23.
In Game 4, the Lady Eagles became the aggressors. They grabbed the early lead and refused to give it up. Playing some of their best ball of the day, they glided to a 25-16 win to send the match to a decisive fifth set.
Game 5 saw neither team give an inch as both showed how badly they sought the victory. Happily, for the blue and white, two critical scores would put them over the top as they took the gratifying comeback, 15-13.
In match number two, the Ohio team was determined to reverse its fortunes. They grabbed a quick lead and held it throughout, winning 25-18.
Game 2 was a thriller as neither crew gave an inch. In an impressive display, ALC came back to take the contest, 26-24.
Game 3 was crucial, but unfortunately, Clermont played with a sense of urgency and won 25-16.
In Game 4, Alice Lloyd looked to come back once again. Despite a valiant effort, they would drop the game and match, 25-21.
