Alice Lloyd Eagles Volleyball plays two in Indiana

 

 Saint Mary of the Woods, IN: On October 12th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles continued their roadtrip in the Hoosier state by traveling to Saint Mary of the Woods to face the host Pomeroys in game 1, and then played fellow Kentucky squad Georgetown College in the nightcap. Once the smoke had cleared, ALC would come out on the short end of the stick and drop both matches.

 

Match 1

SMW-3; ALC-0

The first matchup was against powerful SMW (24-3; 4-3 RSC) in River States Conference volleyball action. The Eagles (6-17-0-8) dropped the match in straight sets.

 In the opener, the Bluegrass ladies would play focused ball and battle the hosts point for point. After back-to-back kills were delivered by Lady Eagle Christa Amburgey , ALC held a 17-15 lead. However, heading torwards crunch time, the Pomeroys unleashed a big 10-1 burst to storm back and take the game, 25-18.

Game 2 started out very similar, as ALC only trailed 6-5. From that point, SMW uncorked a 13-1 blitz spurt to race ahead 19-7. They would maintain that advantage on their way to the 25-9 win.

In Game 3, the Indiana club opened by pulling out to a 14-5 advantage. The Kentucky crew bounced back, and went on 10-6 run to get within five (20-15). Unfortunately, Saint Mary would earn 5 of the next 7 points to win 25-17, and seal the match.

Jadyn Hall and Kylie Ward produced 5 and 4 kills while Rose Scotello came through with 18 big assists. TK Ellis led the squad with 3 service aces, and Gracie Gibson (9), Hall (9) and Ellis provided the digs.

 

 

Match 2

GC-3; ALC-0

In the opener, Georgetown (4-11) led by a slim 13-10 lead, but they picked up the tempo and pulled away for the 25-14 victory.

 Set 2 saw the Lady Eagles (6-18) fight hard and only trail by a 10-8 score. However, GC would drop a 15-5 bomb to run the table and win, 25-13.

 In set 3, the two squads battled point-for-point as Alice Lloyd desperately wanted the win. The Kentucky crew was within two (16-14), only to see the Tigers make the big plays when they needed them to win 25-19 and take the day.

On the night, ALC's Hall (8) and Ward (7) delivered the kills, and Scotello dished out 17 assists. Gibson was the digs leader with 9 while Ward and Camryn Thompson tied with 1 service ace apiece.
