Alice Lloyd Eagles Volleyball concludes regular season against Shawnee State University
Pippa Passes, KY: On November 9th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles (6-26; 0-15) hosted the Shawnee State University Bears (16-12; 9-7 RSC) in River States Conference volleyball action. The Eagles would drop the match in straight sets.
In the opener, the visitors pulled out to a 14-9 lead before closing the game on a 11-5 burst to win, 25-14.
Game 2 saw the Bears take a 8-5 lead, then explode with a 17-4 blitz to put the game away, 25-9.
In Game 3, the Pippa Passes crew remained in striking distance (12-8) only to witness Shawnee go on a big run to close the match with a 25-12 victory.
For the contest, Kyleah Ward and Krista Amburgey led the team with 6 and 5 kills, while Taylor Cox (7) and Rose Scotello (5) provided the assists. Scotello and Camryn Thompson each registed a service ace while Gracie Gibson and Jadyn Hall recorded 7 and 6 digs.
The Lady Eagles now head to post season play when they host the NCCAA DII Mideast Regional Tournament. They will face the Welch College Flames Monday at 6:30 pm in the semi-final match. The winner will play the victor of the Boyce College-Appalachian Bible College match on Tuesday for a berth in the regional championship.
